Marty the Mutant

This is the first in a series of fully licensed super-deformed style figures, based on old B-movie characters, I sculpted for Sputnik Supplies.

Lil' Marty here is taken from the 1955 Roger Corman flick 'Day the World Ended' and will be available soon as a limited edition pre-painted statue which stands over 6 inches tall.

Painting credit goes to the uber-talented Steve Riojas who did a fantastic job bringing Marty to life.

Araña - an old abandoned w.i.p

Haven't had the opportunity to do any sculpting this week due to other work. So here's a work in progress of Marvel comics Araña from a couple of years ago that I gave up on.

One of the reasons for abandoning this sculpt early on is the pose. I felt having the arms flailed out like that didn't really work for a bust. Think going for a more static pose would work better, especially with the style of base I have in mind for it. I'd like to start a new one some day as I've always dug the character design, by Mark Brooks respectively, and thought it would make for a cool little bust.

Been playing about with one of these Munny DIY toys for a while and could never decide on what to do with it. For a while he was going to be Yoda so I elongated the ears with some Aves Apoxie Sculpt but stopped after that. Then just started to mess about with it a bit more and sculpted on some sad looking eyes which I kinda liked.
Just needs cleaning up and priming then I can paint it. Think I could get addicted to these things...

Apologies for not posting anything in so long. From now on though I'm going to update this thing once a week... even if it's just a crappy pencil doodle or something. For now though I've got a bunch of old stuff to start with.

So then, first up is something I did back one evening in November during a power outage. In an attempt to keep myself amused I dug out some sculpey and gash bits of armatures and sat in the dark with a couple of torches. After an hour or two of playing about and getting eye strain I eventually wound up with this...

The next one was done in much the same way, except with the lights on. A couple of old armatures tied together bulked out with foil and sculpey slapped over the top.
